No Air.

Writer's picture: Russ NewtonRuss Newton

So today I made a fruit smoothie to eat. I used blueberry's and raspberry's and whole milk. I blended it up then drank it over about 15 minutes. When I took the last swallow, I suddenly felt the need for air. I tried to breath in but couldn't. This went on for about ninety seconds. I was trying to suck air in and only a very small amount came in. I almost called 911 but then I calmed down and started breathing very shallowly. After about 30 seconds I could breath full breaths. But man, was that a strange feeling. I sent a message to my ALS doctor to see if he had any idea of what it was that caused that. I have made the same type of smoothie three or four times and not had this happen. Will wait for my doctor to reply before I have one of those again!

Russ I do not have any of your conditions however I do drink 24 ounces of self made Smoothie each morning and include any combination of frozen fruit, I have noticed when my drink is extremely cold it constricts my airway not to the extreme you experienced but just a thought. Think about you every day Big Guy, best Manager I ever worked with!

It was liquid so no issue with drinking it. It went down fine no chocking feeling, it seemed to be more like an allergic reaction but it cleared up fast enough I don't think that was it.
